Me and my classmates in BSA 1-19D love eating together during lunch time [well, not the entire class but most of my close friends: My Villamadrigal Family, The Gerlz and Gagambino Family]. We usually eat in Mountain Eatery, a small dining area at the back of NALRC. After eating, we spend our spare time by either playing a game by the green lagoon/east wing or taking some walk in the linear park – a small park situated beside the ‘less stinky’ Pasig river.
Last week, while strolling in the said park [if you could call it that], my friends started squealing about something ‘yuckie’ moving in the dark waters of Pasig River. Being the curious one, I took a peek to see what it was.
Darn. It was indeed gross.
There were so many of them – black or gray fishes swimming up to the surface and back underneath. Janitor fishes [sanitary engineer fishes lol]. At first, I thought they were ’tilapia-s’ [stupid alert] until they started showing their big mouths opening and closing. Major ewwie. I found them entertaining to watch, though, especially when it’s low tide. Just pick up some pebbles around you and start aiming for a target – that’s when the fun starts.
The appearance of the janitor fishes is a [probable] sign that the river is dying [if it still isn't dead in that state]. Awwww, I wish I could see the clear Pasig River described in Jose Rizal’s novels. A little impossible for now, but who knows? Maybe one day when we visit the river again, it’s all clean and clear. Haa~ Miracles.
P.S. I want to acknowledge my nephew, Biskwet, for the cute Tuzki GIF. Hahaha.
